My StoryYou can read either the short, long or both version. Take your pick.
Hi, my name is Audrey Sourroubille Arnold.
Welcome to Lotus Power Health!
Do you want to know what started me on this path, and why I created Lotus Power Health? You can find 2 versions below: a short and a long one, just because I know you might not have the time to read the long version.
Short StoryIf you don't have much time, this is the short story about what brought me to create LPH and focus on women's health.
I diagnosed myself with endometriosis back in 2011, when I was told I had “normal” PMS symptoms. I was proven correct later that year when my gynaecologist at the time performed surgery on me, and found severe endometriosis and blocked tubes. Refusing to see my only options as surgery and medical treatments, I embarked on a complete lifestyle change, improving my nutrition, way of living and even my mindset.
Some of the benefits I have seen as a result of this shift in lifestyle include:
- a reduction in endometriosis symptoms.
- an optimisation of fertility, leading to a pregnancy in 2016. My twin boys were born in December 2016.
- a reduction in pain which can now be managed through simple breathing techniques & Emotional Freedom Technique. This has diminished to the point where I no longer need to take painkillers regularly as I did before. And in fact, since the birth of my twin boys, I only sometimes have very light menstrual cramps.
- a decrease in PMS symptoms, such as deep anxiety and mood swings.
- more energy.
- a better looking skin and fewer wrinkles.
My belief is that treating the root causes of the health problems, and not just symptoms, is key to being happy, healthy and healed. Sometimes, by just changing a few things in our life, we can make a tremendous difference to our health! I am now dedicated to helping women facing the same hormonal imbalances & fertility challenges I have, because I know there is a better way and I believe that every woman deserves to discover it!
Long StoryIf you have more time, this is the long story about what brought me to create LPH and focus on women's health.
I have been suffering from hormonal imbalance for quite a few years. It was diagnosed at first as simple PMS, and never really treated. When I discovered I had endometriosis, it was already quite severe and too late for my tubes! I had to have surgery and take during a few months a strong hormonal treatment which induced menopause.
It was quite tough on my body. I was surely feeling no pain and hormonally more balanced, but I put on more weight. Additionally, the treatment was not focused on treating the endometriosis, but rather just preventing it from spreading further, since there is no known treatment which can cure endometriosis. I was then told that I needed to start on another hormonal treatment and, for pain management, painkillers would do. Between then and 2013, I tried 4 hormonal treatments, which all lead to weight gain and me feeling even less in control of my body. Added to that, none of the painkillers I tried worked in helping with the pain.
This is when I decided that it could not go on like this any more. I did not want to have an hysterectomy, hence I had to find something to help me get better, not just hide the symptoms! The additional stress coming from my job also did not help and, by January 2013, my body and mind were so stressed out that I had to take a break from work.
At first, I just rested.
Then, I felt my body’s urge to be cleansed, so I tested myself for common food intolerances – and found out if I was to get better, I should really avoid some of them. Then, I thought I should do some research about the why, the what, the how. And, as I was doing those research, my body and my mind were waking up. I knew that what I was doing right then, was what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life. Not just the research, but the helping women going through the same problems that I was / am going through. Because I can’t possibly be the only person who wants to understand her body better in order to heal Herself.
I read stories about people who could cure themselves by tuning more into their bodies’ wisdom, what I call Wellness Wisdom, and that is what I did. I started to believe that this could happen, that I could heal myself. And the impossible became possible!
It is unclear if endometriosis can ever disappear, even when symptoms are gone. I guess it all depends on what you believe is the cause of endometriosis. In any case, since January 2013, I could reach a stage where I am no longer taking any hormonal treatment, and I don’t need painkillers any more. Since my pregnancy as well, I only have slight cramps around menstruations. so I’m only using effective, body-friendly and cheap methods to manage my pain.
Additionally, I was told I’d never be able to get pregnant. But following all these nutritional changes, working on my mindset, emotions and desires, I was able to get pregnant. I gave birth in December 2016 to healthy twin boys, and am extremely glad I could once again help myself contradict the diagnosis I was given.
The last few years have been the best of my life!
I reconnected with my body, my dreams, my interests, my values and met new wonderful people. I had to change my life, my job, but for the better. I also had to learn to let go of what did not serve me, and understand what does serve me. I feel now that my life & my health are back onto the right tracks, and this is a wonderful feeling! This is a feeling I wish for all of you reading my story!!
My belief is that treating the root causes of the health problems we have, and not just symptoms, is key to being happy, healthy and healed.
As Dr. Christiane Northrup, MD, wrote as foreword on Dr. Sara Gottfried’s latest book, The Hormone Cure: “Modern conventional medicine – with its focus on pathology, drugs, and surgery – functions largely by using drugs to mask symptoms. But that still-small voice in each of us knows that depression is not a Prozac deficiency and that a headache is not an aspirin deficiency. Taking symptom-masking drugs can be likened to shooting out the indicator lights on the dashboard of your car to reassure yourself that all is well. A much wiser approach is to look under the hood and see where the problem lies and the first place. Believe it or not, most problems, including hormone imbalance, can be largely relieved through lifestyle changes alone.”
My blog is my personal wellness journey, and through it I want to share with women the approaches that have worked for me.
My approach to coaching is similar. I know that not one approach fits all. Through coaching, I empower women with the knowledge they need to take control of their health and their hormones through optimal nutrition, self-care practices and more mindful living. I inspire them to reconnect with their feminine power so that their life becomes more enjoyable.
Since I discovered I had endometriosis, I have reshaped my life, changed my priorities and spent time studying body functions, nutrition and energy healing medicines. I enrolled in courses and seminars to expand my knowledge of nutrition, wellness and coaching techniques, hormonal balance.
